The Union Lady Yellowjackets opened up the season with three wins in four games.
Union opened up with an 8-4 win over Nanih Waiya on Tuesday and then beat Southeast Lauderdale 9-3 on Thursday. On Saturday, Union split a pair of games, falling 8-2 to Kosciusko and beating Meridian 12-0.
Union is scheduled to return to action on Thursday as they host Nanih Waiya and Noxapater on Friday. On Saturday, Union will host French Camp on Saturday in a 2 p.m. contest.
Union 8, Nanih Waiya 4
The Lady Yellowjackets opened the season with five runs in the first inning and took a four-run win over the Lady Warriors on Tuesday.
After scoring five in the first, Union added one in the second. Nanih Waiya scored three in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-4 before Union scored six in the sixth.
Union outhit Nanih Waiya 10-5 in the contest. Britli Cleveland was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Kenley Pullin was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Ashlynn Jenkins was 2-for-3 with a double while Alanee Wheeler was 2-for-3 with a double.
Cleveland started on the mound and pitched four inning, giving up four runs on five hits while striking out four. Wheeler itched the final three innings and struck out seven to pick up the save.
Union 9, SE Lauderdale 3
The Lady Yellowjackets used a pair of four-run innings and took a six-run win over the Lady Tigers on Thursday.
Union scored one in the first and four in the fourth and sixth innings.
Union had eight hits as Anna Grace Blount was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Alanee Wheeler was 2-for-3 while Ashlynn Jenkins and Jordan Turner each had two RBIs. DD Hunter also scored two runs.
Wheeler pitched five innings and gave up one run on three hits and struck out six. Cleveland pitched two innings and gave up two unearned runs on one hit while striking out three.
Kosciusko 8, Union 2
The Lady Whippets scored in five of the seven innings and pulled away to take a six-run win on Saturday at East Central.
Union scored its two runs in the first and second innings.
Union had eight hits as Jordan Turner and Kaylee Holley were each 2-for-3. Alanee Wheeler also doubled and drove in a run.
Wheeler pitched all seven innings and gave up eight runs on 12 hits and three walks but struck out 14.
Union 12, Meridian 0
The Lady Yellowjackets jumped out to a quick lead and cruised to a four-inning, run-rule win on Saturday.
Union scored four in the first, six in the second and two in the fourth.
Union had 10 hits and seven extra base hits. Alanee Wheeler was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Lauryn Roebuck was 2-for-2 with a double, triple, two runs scored and four RBIs. Kaylee Holley was 2-for-2 with a triple and three runs scored. Ashlynn Jenkins was 2-for-3 with a double while Anna Grace Blount tripled and scored two runs.
Britli Cleveland pitched all four innings and gave up just two hits while striking out seven.
