The Newton County Board of Supervisors held their monthly meeting on Feb. 2, where they opened with a heartfelt farewell to retiring county employee Todd Reece. Reece, who has been serving as a solid waste officer for five years, also directed the trash pickup program with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department.

After a slow start to the season, the Newton County Cougars have righted the ship and won eight of their last nine games.
Last week, the Cougars won all three games as they swept division opponent Northeast Lauderdale and then beat Lake to finish out the week.
