Forest Man Gets Sentenced to Life for 1st Degree Murder Conviction

A Newton County jury found Fedarius Lindsey, of Forest, guilty of 1st Degree Murder after deliberating for almost an hour following a two-day trial on Dec. 9 and 10. Lindsey, from Forest, received life in prison during his sentencing on Dec. 15.

Football: Tigers win big at Puckett 42-8, punch playoff ticket

Second-year Newton coach Jeffrey Crosby had two goals this year.
The first was to break a losing streak and the second was to make the playoffs.
Newton has now accomplished both of them after they beat Puckett 42-8 on Friday night.
Newton improves to 2-7 on the season and will host Richton on Thursday night.

Newton Board of Aldermen: Newton Water Rates to Rise in 2026 as City Tackles $250K Deficit

City of Newton water and sewer customers will see their rates increase in 2026 after city officials approved raising rates by a total of a $1 for customers who use less than the minimum of 2,000 gallons per month, while customers using more than 2,000 gallons will see their rates rise by a total of $6.
