Cathy Doss received a call from her son at around 3 p.m. on July 20, 2025. Trevor Wellerman, 30, called his mother for guidance on taking care of a toe injury that he thought required medical attention.
“He said he had injured his toe by running it over a nail or screw on a deck, so he and his friend were going to Meridian to see about getting his toe looked at because it looked like it needed some stitches,” said Doss.
Nearly six months later, Doss has yet to hear from her son again.
Wellerman, who stands at 5’9” tall, weighs 135 lbs., has green eyes and brown hair, was working at a chicken processing plant and in security prior to going missing. He was last seen back in July near Highway 494, close to the Duffee area. According to Doss, he has a huge heart, proven by the numerous calls from people who has contacted her since he became missing to share how he helped them when their vehicle was broken down and many other various ways.
He and his mother also have always shared a strong bond. It only took a day or so after her son’s phone call for Doss to realize that something was amiss.
"We have a very close relationship," she said. "I would probably talk to him at least every other day. To go this long without hearing from him—I don’t feel real good about that at all." Wellerman also maintained a strong relationship with his grandmother, Veronica Gaines, who lives nearby and was part of his main support system with his mother.
According to Doss, there’s been very little information given on Wellerman’s whereabouts, leading to many more questions than answers. After receiving a tip back in November, the family organized a search party to canvas several acres of a wooded area on Dec. 31, near the area that Wellerman was last seen. Unfortunately, after getting an overwhelming response from the friends, family, and community that wanted to take part in the search, it was canceled at the last minute due to complications with landowners. A smaller team from the sheriff’s department were allowed to search the wooded area, but nothing was found.
Doss urges anyone with information on the whereabouts of her son, no matter how small, to please come forward.
"You may not think it's helpful, but anything is appreciated. It could lead to something else," Doss emphasized.
