SOFTBALL: NCA notches wins at North State

After a tough start to the season, the Newton County Academy Lady Generals seem to be hitting their stride at the right time under first-year head coach Kelly Alderman.

The Lady Generals won two game in the North 2A state tournament this past weekend, beating West Memphis 3-1 and Tunica Academy 4-1 to advance in the winner’s bracket.

FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Union looks to rebound

One of last year’s best games was between Union and East Webster.

And first-year Union coach Jordan Wren said he expects it to be another good game this year.

The Wolverines are 2-1 on the season with wins over Vardaman (55-21) and East Union (42-20). Their lone loss is to 3A Choctaw County (50-18).
