The Newton County Academy softball team lost a pair of games last week.
The Lady Generals lost 4-3 to Hartfield on Monday and then 8-3 to Laurel Christian on Thursday.
NCA was scheduled to host Heritage on Monday and then host Laurel Christian on Thursday.
Hartfield 4, NCA 3
The Lady Hawks scored two runs in the top of the seventh and took a one-run win over the Lady Generals on Monday.
Hartfield scored single runs in the first and third innings and led 2-0 before NCA scored two in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. After two scoreless innings, Hartfield scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take the win.
Hartfield outhit NCA 8-6 in the contest. The Lady Generals also drew 11 walks in the contest by struck out 15 times. Kelsey Tibbetts was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Adriane Luke tripled and walked three times. Sophia Munn singled, walked twice and scored two runs. Jamie Stamper and Brooklyn Vaughn each singled.
Munn started in the circle and pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out eight.
Laurel Christian 8, NCA 3
The Lady Generals committed 11 errors in the field as the Lady Hawks took an early lead and held on for a five-run win on Friday.
Laurel jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and then scored three in the fifth and one in the sixth. NCA scored one in the fourth and two in the sixth.
NCA had six hits in the contest but struck out 14 times. Sophia Munn was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Adriane Luke was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Marli Clare Kelly also singled and drove in two runs while Brooklyn Vaughn also singled.
Kelly started in the circle and gave up eight runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two.
