Both the Newton County Academy tennis and baseball teams picked up wins last week.
The NCA baseball team won one of three games, finishing the week with an exciting 5-4 win over Jackson Victors.
The NCA tennis team dominated Leake Academy 7-2 on Thursday in Forest.
The NCA baseball team is scheduled to begin district play this week as they host Discovery Christian on Tuesday and make the return trip on Thursday. They will finish the week on Friday by hosting Leake Academy.

The Generals faced some stiff competition early last week as they fell to Class 5A East Rankin 16-2 and Lamar School 15-0. They finished the week with a 5-4 win over Jackson Victors.
On Tuesday, NCA fell in four innings to East Rankin, falling 16-2. NCA had eight hits but walked nine and committed eight errors. Cooper Thrash and Gaines Boyd were each 2-for-2 while Cooper Savell were each 2-for-3. Ty Thrash started and pitched 2 2/3 innings and was tagged with the loss while Savell, Stephen Duke and Logan Usry each pitched for the Generals
On Thursday, the Generals lost in three innings to Lamar. School 15-0. NCA had just two hits, singles by Cooper Thrash and Gaines Boyd. Thrash pitched one inning and gave up 12 runs while Max Ferguson pitched the next 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on four hits.
On Saturday, NCA picked up its first win of the week with a one-run win over the Victors. NCA trailed 3-2 after five innings but scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Jackson scored one in the bottom of the seventh but NCA threw out a runner at the plate to preserve the win. NCA had six hits as Stephen Duke was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Cooper Savell singled and scored. Logan Usry singled and drove in a run while Cooper Robinson and Gaines Boyd also singled. Duke started on the mound and pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out 11.

NCA lost both girls singles spots but dominated the rest of the action.
In girls doubles, Landry Parks and Maddy Smith won 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while Jamie Stamper and Morgan Herrington won 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.
In mixed doubles, Cali and Cash Weems won 6-2, 6-4 while Noah Agent and Eli Herrington won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 boys singles.
The rest of NCA’s wins were by forfeit.
