The Newton County School District hosted their first ever Community Conversations event on the evening of Oct. 22, at the Newton County Career and Technical Center. The event was a student-led opportunity that gave visitors and opportunity to tour of the new Career and Technical Center and discover the many great programs that students are taking part in, learn about the district’s new Strategic Plan from Superintendent Brooke Sibley, and have the opportunity to share thoughts and suggestions.
In addition, State Treasurer David McRae was on hand to tour the facility, speak at the event, and give out two $1,000 MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) scholarships to a couple of randomly drawn Newton County students. NCHS Sophomore Anna Boudreaux and Junior Mackenzie Platt were the lucky winners of the scholarships.
