My name is Eva McDonald, and I am seeking another term as Alderwoman in Ward 3 for the Newton Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
I previously served as Alderwoman from 2013 to 2017, and I believe I am the best person for the job.
I am a lifelong resident of Newton, Miss., and a family oriented person. My husband, Oliver McDonald, and I have three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. We are members of Pleasant Grove MB Church.
Being involved in the community as a volunteer, sponsor and leader is very important to me. I am the sponsor and leader of the Mayor’s Youth Council and a professional certified official by the Mississippi Municipal League. I have been an adviser to a local Girl Scouts of America troop for 17 years and have served with 4-H for 16 years. I have been an integral member of the Friends for Unity.
I am very active in our Newton Municipal School District. I serve as the president of the Newton High School Band Boosters.
And in the business community, I am a business owner of 32 years at Tinka Tonka’s Day Care. I am active member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce and a past member of its board of directors.
The reason why I believe I am best for the job is I have a willingness to work for the community. I am a community activist and will use my strong leadership skills to work for change in our community. I am professionally dedicated and willing to listen, and I am open to new ideas.
To the people of Newton Ward 3, your vote counts in the upcoming election Tuesday, April 6.
I am humbly and prayerfully asking for your support again in 2021. With God on our side, we can make a difference in Newton, MS.
