The Roxy Theater in Downtown Newton will be bustling the first weekend of December as the Newton Theatre Company holds auditions for their next youth musical production and host their annual Christmas at the Roxy.
Area youth ages 6th-12th grade are invited to audition for “We Will Rock You”, a musical tribute to the rock band, Queen. The musical features the numerous hit songs of Queen, from “Bohemian Rhapsody” to “We are the Champions”.
Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. and Monday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a 1–2-minute song and to bring your own accompaniment. It is strongly encouraged that auditioners sing a song by Queen or any other classic rock artist.
Rehearsals begin on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. Performances are scheduled for March 20-22, 2026.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, the Newton Theatre Company opens up the festive season by hosting their Annual Christmas at the Roxy, inviting all to come and enjoy an afternoon of local musicians, singers, and performers as they share the spirit of the season. The show begins at 2 p.m. and admission is free, with an option for those attending to bring one or more canned food items to be donated to the Hickory Food Pantry. Local performers scheduled to perform include Larry Blackburn, Madyson Warren, Trent Wright, Cara Brand, Rachel Brand, Kristie Harris, Margie Curry, and more.
