A Newton teenager has been arrested and charged with felony burglary following a break-in on Martin Luther King Drive earlier this month. Authorities say additional arrests are forthcoming as the investigation continues.
According to Interim Chief McKenzie Patrick of the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a breaking and entering on March 20th in the 600 block of MLK Drive. During the investigation, lead detective Jones was able to identify and arrest 18-year-old Aquavius K. Anderson of Newton in connection with the incident.
Anderson has been charged with burglary - breaking and entering a dwelling, a felony offense. He is currently being held on a $40,000 bond and is set to appear before the Newton County Circuit Court.
Police say Anderson was not acting alone. Several juveniles, whose names have been withheld due to their age, are also believed to be involved. They will be processed through the youth court system.
