hunting and fishing lease
Sealed bids will be received by the Board of Trustees, Union Public School District, 417 South Decatur Street, P.O. Box 445, Union, Mississippi, up to and not later than 10:00 a.m., April 10, 2023 for a Hunting and Fishing Lease for a five year period on the following parcel of land in Newton County, Mississippi.

All the forest land lying North of Pete Freeman Road and West of Melvin Leach Road located in the NW 1/4, N 1/2 of SW 1/4 and the W 1/2 of NE 1/4 of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 11 East, Newton County, Mississippi, LESS AND EXCEPT a Parcel described as follows: All the open land lying North of Pete Freeman Road being part of NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of SW 1/4; a small garden located South of Pete Freeman Road located in the NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of SW 1/4, containing a total of 1.0 acre more or less; and LESS AND EXCEPT a Parcel described as: Commence at the Southwest corner of the SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 11 East, Newton County, Mississippi, this being the Point of Beginning. Thence run along said right-of-way North 53 degrees 11 minutes 08 seconds East for 134.87 feet; thence run along said right-of-way along a curve for 140.17 feet (curve data delta = 16 degrees 13 minutes 06 seconds, radius 495.19 feet, chord bearing = North 41 degrees 31 minutes 50 seconds East chord length = 139.70 feet); thence run along said right-of-way North 34 degrees 43 minutes 44 seconds East for 70.19 feet to an iron pin; thence run North 40 degrees 00 minutes 00 seconds West for 581.49 feet to a ditch; thence run along the ditch South 72 degrees 19 minutes 15 seconds West for 73.20 feet; thence run along the ditch South 76 degrees 15 minutes 46 seconds West for 106.14 feet to an iron pin; thence run South 5 degrees 57 minutes 00 seconds East for 313.86 feet to an oak tree; thence run South 39 degrees 44 minutes 32 seconds East for 427.78 feet to the Point of Beginning. This parcel contains 4.7 acres, more or less, and is situated in the SW 1/4 of NE 1/4 and the NW 1/4 of SE 1/4, Newton County, Mississippi; AND LESS AND EXCEPT a 1 acre parcel described as follows:
Commence at a point where the West right-of-way of Melvin Leach Road intersects the South line of NE 1/4 of SE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 11 East, Newton County, Mississippi, this being the Point of Beginning. Thence run North along the West right-of-way of Melvin Leach Road a distance of 280.00 feet more or less; thence run West a distance of 200.00 feet more or less; thence run South a distance of 240.00 feet more or less; thence run East a distance of 160.00 feet more or less to the Point of Beginning, containing 1.00 acre more or less; AND LESS AND EXCEPT All the open land East of the intersection of Wilson Vance Road and North of the Pete Freeman Road that joins these two roads in the NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 11 East, Newton County, Mississippi containing 2.0 acres more or less.
Less the exceptions, the above described acreage contains 263.00 acres more or less located in the NW 1/4, NW 1/2 of SW 1/4, and the W 1/2 of NE 1/4 of Section 16, Township 9 North, Range 11 East, Newton County, Mississippi.
Bids will be opened and read at the date and time specified for acceptance. Complete information concerning the lease and the lease bid form can be obtained from the office of the Superintendent, 417 South Decatur Street, Union, Mississippi 39365. The minimum bid that will be considered is $6.00 per acre per year.
The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
