ORDINANCE NO. 359
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UNION, NEWTON AND NESHOBA COUNTIES, SO AS TO CHANGE THE WATER AND SEWER RATES ON THE UNION WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM IN UNION, MISSISSIPPI
WHEREAS, by proper order and direction of the Mayor Pro Tempore and Board of Aldermen, there was established rates within the City of Union for water and sewer; and
WHEREAS, it appears that it is necessary for the continued operation of this utility and in order to meet budget, there should be an increase in the water and sewer rates.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF UNION, NEWTON AND NESHOBA COUNTIES, MISSISSIPPI AS FOLLOWS:
The water and sewer rates for consumers in the City of Union is hereby further amended and re-established as follows:
MONTHLY USE RATES:
First 2,000 Gallons per Month - $18.00 per 2,000 gallons
Over 2,000 Gallons per Month - $ 7.00 per 1,000 gallons
Sewer rates will be exactly the same.
A penalty charge of 10% of the gross amount of the account will be charged if the account is not paid by the 10th day of each month.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect May 1, 2023.
The foregoing ordinance having been considered, it was put to a vote and the votes of the Aldermen present were as follows:
Alderman Paul Lowery voted Aye
Alderman Robert Blount voted Aye
Alderman Harvey Hickmon voted Nay
Alderman Ricky Sistrunk voted Aye
It being determined that the ordinance received the affirmative vote of three of the four Aldermen present, it was declared passed and adopted on this the 7th day of March, 2023.
