AN ORDINANCE IN THE CITY OF UNION, MISSISSIPPI
AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED HAVING DATE OF FEBRUARY 6, 1973, SO AS TO REZONE CERTAIN PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the governing authorities of the City of Union, Mississippi, has heretofore adopted a zoning ordinance dividing the city into zoning districts; and,
WHEREAS, Walter Johnson and wife, Linda Johnson has filed their application to amend said zoning ordinance to change the zoning from A-1 to C-4; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor Pro Tempore and Board of Aldermen of the City of Union, Mississippi, conducted a public hearing on September 1, 2020, at which time the governing body determined that proposed change was necessary for the City of Union, Mississippi.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Union, Mississippi as follows:
SECTION I. That the zoning ordinance of the City of Union, Mississippi, adopted February 6, 1973 and recorded in Ordinance Book 3, Pages 82 through 115 of the records of the City of Union, and is hereby amended and granted a zoning change to C-4 on the following:
Commence at a point where the North line of Illinois Central and Gulf Railroad intersects the West line of Mississippi Highway No. 15; thence North along the West line of said Highway, 336 feet to the point of beginning of the property to be herein conveyed; from said point of beginning run thence further North along the West line of said Highway, 124 feet more or less, to James Street; run thence West along James Street 72 feet; run thence South parallel with said Highway, 124 feet; run thence East parallel with James Street, 72 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning. Being a lot 72 feet East and West by 124 feet North and South, in Lot 12, Section 6, Township 8 North, Range 12 East, Newton County, Mississippi.
Subject to any prior reservations or conveyance of minerals, which may be of record, and subject to all existing easements and right-of-ways.
SECTION II. That zoning districts of February 6, 1973, and previous amendments hereto, shall remain in full force and effect in all respects and is changed only to the extent set forth herein.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall go into effect as of October 6, 2020,
The foregoing ordinance having been considered section by section and then as a whole, it was put to a vote by the Aldermen present as follows:
Alderman Rex Germany voted Aye
Alderman Harvey Hickmon voted Aye
Alderman Stanley Walker voted Aye
It being determined that the ordinance received the affirmative vote of all the Aldermen present, it was declared passed and adopted this the 1st day of September, 2020.
