To honor Jill's memory, we are holding a celebration of life at 10 am, Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union. Bro. Lin Chesney and Bro. Rusty Walton will officiate. We invite anyone who knew Jill to attend and remember her wonderful life. The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.
Jill Kersh Keen, age 65, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at her home in Union, MS. She was born in San Diego, California on July 16, 1958 while her dad was stationed at the Naval Base. Jill was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.
After graduating from high school in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jill moved to Hickory, MS with her Aunt Betty and Uncle Glenn Hicks and their children so she could attend Nursing School at Matty Hersee School of Nursing in Meridian, MS. Life long friends were made and a loving marriage of 45 years were resulted due to a blind date with David Keen of Union, MS. In 1981, the two became parents to their only child, David Owen Keen. Jill was a devoted mother caring for him until his untimely death in 2009.
Jill was a dedicated and extraordinary nurse of 46 years. She spent 42 of those years at Laird Hospital. She had planned to retire January 1, 2024. Jill had many loves in life, such as dogs, especially dachshunds, caring for others, and making people laugh with her humor and stories. She was a "Board Certified Prankster."
There is so much more that should be said, but in the end, what she did was make our world brighter.
Jill is survived by her husband, David Keen; sister-in-law, Bonnie Roberts; sisters, Sherrie Lewis of Salt Lake City, and Jackie Kersh of Brandon, MS; brother, Butch Kersh (Shauna) of Salt Lake City, and several loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her precious son, Owen; mother, Bonnie Henrion; father, Quinton Kersh and niece, Kelli Beunocore.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Make A Wish Foundation of Mississippi in honor of Jill. This organization was very special to her due to Owen's wish that was granted to attend the Wheel of Fortune Show, where he got to spin the wheel with Vanna White.
