A Celebration of Life service will be held for Jimmy Dale McElhenney, Jr. on February 25, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. at The American Legion Hut in Decatur, MS.
Jimmy Dale McElhenney, Jr., 53, of Decatur, MS, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 16, 1969, in Newton, MS.
A graduate of Decatur High School in 1987, Jimmy was a talented drummer, avid football fan, malicious prankster and one of the best friends around. He went on to attend Johnson Bible College, where he met and married Teleza Steele in 1993. The absolute pride and joy of Jimmy’s life was his daughter, Kaylyn Elizabeth McElhenney, born in 1997.
In 2015, he married Allison Hartsell, with whom he enjoyed traveling, being with family and friends and raising their fur babies, Daisy and Polly. He loved attending the Neshoba County Fair where he reunited with family and friends yearly.
Jimmy worked for Clayton Homes for 11 years and then for 10 years at Wakefield and Associates as a Collection Specialist.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Smith McElhenney McNair; Grandparents, Edward and Elma Smith of Union and Lula Mae Smith of Decatur. He is survived by his wife, Allison McElhenney; his daughter, Kaylyn McElhenney; his father, Jimmy McElhenney, Sr. (Martha); his sisters, Debbie Mayes (Brent) and Angela Reeves (Randy Jenkins); his brother, John Thomas McNair; step-brother, Nicky Sharp; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy’s ashes will be buried with his mother in Greenland Baptist Church Cemetery in Union, MS, in a private service.
