Bennie Dan Walker Jr. "Dannie", 59, passed away at his home in Hickory on April 30, 2018.
Dannie was born on July 12, 1958 in Union to Bennie Dan and Virginia Walker. Dannie married Tammie Lott of Hickory on Sept. 23, 1980.
Dannie traveled the world as a directional driller, where he will always be known as one of the best. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Dannie cherished his wife and the time they spent traveling. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his quotes, “it is what it is” and “if you are gonna be a bear, be a big one”.
He is survived by his wife, Tammie Walker; a daughter, Ginger Walker Little; a son, Ben Walker (Kristen); three grandchildren, Braiden Walker, Gianna Little and Blaine Walker; his father, Bennie Walker, Sr.; a sister, Debbie Belk (Freddie); and a brother, Reagan Walker.
Pallbearers will be Joe Alexander, J.R. Addy, Jamie Slay, Josh Westbrook, Mike Brackeen and Allen Ferguson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Crocker, Harold Shoemaker, the Directional Drilling Crew and the men of GUBC.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Walker; and his father-in-law, Harry Eason.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3 at Grace United Baptist Church with Bros. Gary Felton and Jamie Leach officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory City Cemetery in Hickory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace United Baptist Church youth fund.
