Carole Marie Guraedy Hawkins, 71, passed away peacefully at her brother’s home on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at Shiloh Cemetery in Buckner, Ark.
She lived her life by doing the work of the Lord through various charities and public service. Among these were Victims’ Rights, MADD, Mississippi Department of Public Safety as well as Mississippi Department of Corrections. She was a devoted teacher of the Bible and taught at numerous churches.
She was a honor graduate of Mississippi College, receiving both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Administrative Justice.
Survivors include her son, Michael Patton Hawkins (Traci), grandchildren, Hailey and Madison Hawkins and their mother, Tracy Hawkins, Joshua Lee Hawkins (Amanda), grandchildren, Jamie, Lily, Abigale, Julie Hawkins; a brother, James Bruce Guraedy (Linda); and a nephew, Jason Brian Guraedy (Laura).
She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. Guraedy and Elizabeth Ann Irby Guraedy.
