Carolyn “Elaine” Bounds, 82, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020. She was born Sunday, Feb. 20, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan.
Visitation was held 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial was in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ryan Cozart, Bro. Elaine was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked 39 years in the banking industry starting her career with First National Bank of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Joe Bounds; her parents, Gilmore and Brooksie Dean; and her sister, Vivian Dean.
Survivors include her daughter, Polly Mayes (Kent); one granddaughter, Brookes Prince (Blaine); two great-grandsons, Parker Prince and Davis Prince; two nieces, Donna Pace (Chris) and Aimee Carpenter (Cliff); and two special cousins, Brenda Reid and LaDonna Walters.
Pallbearers were Ferrell Stroud, Butch Meaders, Chris Craven, Bo Maske, Armand Therrien, Jay Chesney, Brent Mayes and Douglas Mayes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Stroud, Ronnie Thrash Sr., and the Newton High School Class of 1955.
