Mr. Edward A. Street, 80, left his earthly body on Monday Nov. 20, 2017, at his home in Lake. Visitation was held from noon to 1:50 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 22 at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 22 at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, with the Revs. Ken McLemore and James McMillan officiating. Burial followed in Lake City Cemetery. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, was in charge of the arrangements.
Edward was born on Nov. 7, 1937, in Newton to Armistead and Erline Street. In 1996 he retired from MDOT after working 25-plus years as a surveyor. He also retired from the Air National Guard after serving 32 years between the United States Army and Air Guard.
Edward was a member and former deacon of Lake Baptist Church. He was also an active member of the George D. Riley Masonic Lodge, where he was a past Master of the Lodge and a member for 51 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 and a half years, Merlene Street of Lake; two children, Rodney Street (Shelia) of Lake, and Gigi Black (Marty) of Homewood; five grandchildren, Jarrod Street (Charlotte), Heath Street (Brooklyn Mayo), Heather Street (Joseph Haralson), Margie Winstead (Matthew) and Kellie Black; as well as six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armistead and Erline Street.
Serving as pallbearers were Chad Hillman, Greg Luke, Tim Gibbs, Phoenix Sims, Dewight Comans, Jeremy Bryant, and the members of the George D. Riley Masonic Lodge.
