Services for Ms. Eliana Richardson were held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union. Rev. Rusty Walton officiated with burial in Golden Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Milling Funeral Home of Union. Milling Funeral Home of Union was charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Gwendolyn R. Pate of Hattiesburg, Karen R. Gardner and husband, Buddy, of Union and JanNelle Rivers of Las Vegas, NV; four grandsons, Charles A. “Andy” Pate of Hattiesburg and Joseph Taylor “JT” Gardner of Union, Stevan Gardner and David Gardner; granddaughter, Karen Grayson; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Antofagasta, Chile, July 19, 1930, to Roberto Araya and Filomena (Nena) Gomez. She met Charles M. Richardson of Union, MS when he served in the U.S. Army in South America. They married in 1951 and, upon his retirement from the service in 1963, they returned to the County Line community to make their home. Mrs. Richardson worked as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Union Milling Co. from September 1968 until it closed in April 1996. Then she worked for the Union Public Library as an Assistant Librarian from March 1997 until March 2017. Ms. Richardson was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Mrs. Richardson, 89, died at home with family present on Monday, Oct. 21, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents and two sisters.
Mrs. Richardson was an avid reader and a librarian for 20 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Union Public Library at 101 Peachtree St. Union, MS 39365.
