Services for Mrs. Elsie McGrew Beemon Chamblee were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at Antioch Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Kevin Meador and Bro. Wes Beasley officiated.
Visitation was held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at the church.
Mrs. Elsie, of Union, was born Oct. 21, 1935 in Hickory, Mississippi and passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2019, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Survivors include five daughters, Julia Beemon Ray of Germantown, TN, Debbie Beemon Carlton and husband, Earl, of Arkabutla, MS, Dianne Chamblee Roebuck of Newton, MS, Amelia Chamblee Townsend of Union, MS and Melanie Chamblee Kirkland and husband, David of Philadelphia, MS; son, Harry Lee “Bubba” Chamblee and wife, Janice, of Philadelphis, MS; 13 grandchildren, Michael Ray of Rochester Hills, MI, Robert Carlton and wife, Nikki, of Arkabutla, MS, Allen Carlton and wife, Stephanie, of Southaven, MS, Joseph Carlton of Savannah, TN, Angela Roebuck of Union, MS, Jessica Russell and husband, Dusty, of Union, MS, Kyle Townsend and wife, Chelsea, of Laurel, MS, Carley Davis and husband, Tyler, of Union, MS, Josh Steele and wife, Kate, of Philadelphia, MS, Ashley Stepp and husband, Michael, of Philadelphia, MS, Hannah Horn and husband, Brandon, of Chunky, MS, Christina Logan and husband, Billy, of Biloxi, MS and Quenton Chamblee of Union, MS; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Mrs Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Angie McGrew; husband, Gressett Beemon, and husband, Fred Allen Chamblee; two sisters, Stella Sant and Ann Nelson; and two brothers, J.D. McGrew and Clinton McGrew.
Pallbearers were Michael Ray, Allen Carlton, Robert Carlton, Kyle Townsend, Josh Steele, Quenton Chamblee, Tim Moss and Billy Logan.
Mrs. Elsie was a life-long member of Antioch Christian Church and attended Pinkney Baptist Church. She loved playing the piano, singing, sewing and most of all, teaching children about Jesus in Sunday School and Church.
