Funeral services for Mr. Gary K. “Sonny” Meador were Friday at 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home of Union. The Revs. Kevin Meador and William Savell officiated. Burial was in Pickney Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Meador, 83, of Decatur, passed away Monday evening at his residence.
He was retired as a truck driver for the Mississippi Department of Transportation after 38 years of service. He also served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Mississippi National Guard. Mr. Meador also for many years, drove school buses for Union Public Schools. He and Mrs. Meador enjoyed going to their cabin in Georgia and going to various flea markets and garage sales in the area. Mr. Meador also enjoyed his farm where he raised sugar cane.
He was a member of Pickney Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Harris; grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Cheyenne Harris and Joannie Suggs. He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Bryanne Suggs.
Mr. Meador was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ola Meador; and wife, Regenia Harper Meador.
Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
