Services for Gerald Maxwell Alawine were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 at Antioch Baptist Church in Neshoba County with Revs. Jack Kern and David Jay officiating. Burial followed in Antioch Cemetery.
McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Gerald Alawine, born Sept. 13, 1934, left this world on June 18, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. After many years of farming, he enlisted in the service and served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force. He also worked nearly two decades at Owen Brothers and another two decades at Delco Remy. He retired only to build and run a public golf course, Arrowhead Golf Course. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as Antioch Baptist Church. His strong work ethic will be missed.
He died at his home, which he cherished, with his family close at hand. His wife, Janice, of almost 60 years, saw to his every need, along with the help of immediate family.
Max is survived by his loving and caring wife, Janice Alawine; two sons, Michael and his wife, Trena Alawine, and Mitchell and his wife, Brenda Alawine. He had three grandchildren, Tony and his wife, Michelle Alawine, Shaun and his wife, Alicia Alawine, and Savannah Alawine; seven great-grandsons, Joshua, Justin, Samuel, Tyler, Jack, Cody and Ethan Alawine; and one sister, Tommie Frazier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calebee and Sammie Alawine; two brothers, William and Charles Alawine; and sister, Eldred Smith.
