Services for Mr. Gerald Matlock were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Jamie Leach officiated.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Gerald Matlock, of Hickory, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was born on Dec. 30, 1945 to Otho and Madeline Matlock in Union.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon; his daughter, Cara Matlock Jones (Rex); two grandchildren, Maggie Cresswell and John Layne Cresswell; a brother, Billy Joe (Ruth); two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Williamson (S.A.) and Nita Humphreys (Ben), as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Willie and Johnny.
He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and a charter member and deacon at Grace United Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were the deacons of Grace United Baptist Church and Jim Cates.
