Mr. Gerald Rube Monk, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at his home in Lake. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday Nov. 9 and again from noon to 1:45 p.m. Friday Nov. 10 at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday Nov. 10 at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, with Pastor Tim Lott and Bros. Billie Nichols and Ken McLemore officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Ridge Baptist Cemetery. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Monk had lived most of his life in Lake, where he was a member of the Lake Christian Church. He was a mason and also loved camping, fishing, and collecting baseball cards. He was also an avid Mississippi State Bulldog Football and Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Most of all, he loved his children, grandchildren, and the rest of his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gweneth Monk in 2015; and his children, Lynn Coady, Rebecca Owens and Russell Monk.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Foreman (David) of Forest; six grandchildren, Gwen Purvis (Matt), Matthew Owens (Brittany), Erica Jolley (Colby), Zachary Foreman (Emily), Jessica Lewis (Kevin) and Berta Windham (Zack); seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Bradford, Delilah Williams, Madeilyn Windham, Jude Windham, Brandon Windham, Isla Jolley and Jules Jolley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Zachary Foreman, Colby Jolley, Matthew Owens, Matt Purvis, Lath Harrell and Michael Hollingsworth. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Hawthorne, Larry Harrell, Dale Hollingsworth, David Foreman, Billy Horton and Michael Bounds.
