Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Clark Thompson will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at High Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Cook will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home of Union is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thompson, 80, of Union passed away at her residence on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.
Throughout her life she was a poultry farmer. Her favorite hobbies included caring for her flowers and working in her yard.
She will always be remembered for her love of baking, especially cakes for her family as well as fishing, quilting and sewing. Though she enjoyed all of these things, her primary enjoyment was her family.
She is survived by her son, Jammy Thompson (Mary Jane) of Union; a granddaughter, Brandon Rushing (Nathan) of Long Beach; a grandson, Slade Thompson of Union; and a great- granddaughter Maggie Townsend. Mrs. Thompson is also survived by her siblings, L.C. Clark, Bernice Hoyt, Dodie Davidson and Randall Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Estell and Lurena Clark; her husband, Jimmy Albert Thompson; three siblings, Oliver, Issac and Ernest Clark; along with a grandson, Justin Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Richard Boykin, James Boykin, Joey Pickle, Ernie Shaw, Jonathan Davidson and Seth Thompson. The honorary pallbearer will be Billy Paul Davidson.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Stephens Funeral Home.
