Services for Bro. Jim Jones were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Lucern Methodist Church with the burial in the Lucern Methodist Church Cemetery. Bros. Jimmy Holder, Wayne Tate and Ed Dickerson officiated.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Bro. Jim Jones of Union, 88, passed away Sept. 4, 2017. He pastored in both the Jones and Newton County areas from 1992 until 2006.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Jean Jones of Union; two daughters, Jeannie Vance (Milton) and Judy Moulds (Charles) both of Decatur; a son, Jimmy D. Jones of Union; four grandchildren, Michael Vance of Decatur and his fiancé, Melinda Germany and Sharli Daigle (Joel), Ginger Vaughn (Wade) of Decatur and Jo Lynn McElhenney (Jared) all of Decatur; six great- grandchildren, Hunter Vance (Sarah), Emma Mae Vaughn, Charly Grace Daigle, Jack McElhenney, Ellie Caroline Vaughn and Eli Vaughn; and a sister-in-law, Sally Jones.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jones is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and four brothers.
Pallbearers were Michael Vance, Hunter Vance, Wade Vaughn, Joel Daigle, Jared McElhenney, Alon Williams, Milton Vance and Charles Moulds.
