Services for Ms. Jimmie B. Buntyn were held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Neshoba County. Bro. Jerry Bennett, Bro. Howell Thrash, Bro. Paul Sistrunk and Bro. Clint Johnson officiated.
Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Friday, and also one hour prior to service on Saturday at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Ms. Buntyn, 86, of Union, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 at River Birch Estate Assisted Living in Union.
Jimmie Bee Vance Buntyn was born in Newton County, Miss. After the death of her parents at an early age, she was raised by her paternal Aunt Bessie and Grandpa Vance. She graduated from Conehatta High School in 1950 and married Louie Floyd Buntyn in 1956.
She was a lifelong active member and Sunday School teacher at Lucern Church of God. She worked at Newton Company and Midland Shirt Company until her children were born. Farming became her new career. After Louie’s death in 1971, her father-in-law, Willie D. became her farm ally. She semi-retired in 2007 by closing her chicken houses and sold her last cows in 2014. Until her illness in 2017, she kept the roads hot chasing grandchildren and great grandchildren. She provided steady gifts of books and quilts, with lots of love and one of her favorite quotes “I love you, and remember love is forever”, Grandma Jimmie Buntyn.
Buntyn is survived by her daughters, Michelle Logan and husband, Robert, of Newton and Marsha Hardin and husband, Peetie, of Union; six grandchildren, Megan Bounds and husband, Daniel, of Starkville, Zack Logan and wife, Jenny, of Nashville, Tenn., Jeffrey Logan and wife, Claire, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Madeline Cash and husband, Spencer, of Memphis, Vance Hardin and wife, Brittany, of White Bluff, Tenn. and Warren Hardin of Abilene, Texas; and six great grandchildren, MaryEllen Logan, Logan Bounds, Katie Bounds, Peyton Bounds, Bo Logan and Ledger Hardin.
Ms. Buntyn was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Buntyn, and son, Scoppa Buntyn.
Pallbearers for the service were Daniel Bounds, Zack Logan, Jeffrey Logan, Vance Hardin, Spencer Cash and Warren Hardin
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Cole Arthur 13001 Rd 210 Union, MS 39365.
