Mrs. Leona Lenora Brown Thornton, 73, passed away on Saturday Aug. 19, 2017, at the Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 and again from 11 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 22 at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake with burial following in the New Prospect Baptist Cemetery in Sebastopol. Officiating was Bros. Billy Nichols and Scott Thomas with David Mabry delivering the eulogy. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Thornton had lived in Lake for the past 19 years where she moved from Sebastopol. She was a member of the Lake Christian Church and the 4-County Benefit Club in Sebastopol.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Earl Brown in 1989 and her second husband, Paul Thornton in 2015.
She is survived by her son, Gilbert Brown (Patricia) of Lake; four sisters, Fay Wolverton of Philadelphia, Linda Gully of Dekalb, Janie Nowell of Philadelphia, and Diane Clark of Union; three brothers, Cecil Ray Agent of Kosciusko, Rudolph Agent of Madison, and Doyle Agent of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Adam Brown and Amanda Brown; one great grandchild, Mari Patton Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Brad Gressett, Greg Nowell, Johnny Agent, Jason French, Jim Wolverton and Gary Hare. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Shephard, Cary Brown, Ronnie Germany and James Rucker.
