My beloved son Mathew Baker, passed away in his sleep unexpectedly, Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at home with his puppies Louis and Bella at his side.
He is preceded in death by his loving father, Donald Baker; maternal grandparents, Donald and Louise Lake; and fraternal grandparents, Earl and Wauneta Baker, also from Newton.
A graduate of Newton High in 1965, he also went to East Central Community College. Talented in accounting and sales, he worked in many local businesses over the years.
A kind young man with a big heart, for the last few years he put his life on hold to care first for his daddy and the last year for me; the best son ever!
Always kind, he loved animals, small children and music and family.
A lifelong fan of hard rock, the future looked bright with his opening of a stereo installation business Dropping Hertz soon, a life-long dream.
A special thank you to Mat’s dearest friend and true brother Ryan Massey and his wife, Melody, for all the love they have shared with us. Also, to my dear friends Pat and Steve, thank you for your love and support. Thank you all four, for helping me follow Mat’s plan for cremation. There will be no services.
As there is never a guarantee of our earthly time together, Mat’s final message to those who are reading this is: Please remember his easy smile and caustic wit. He is finally home and okay. Most importantly always share every day all the love inside you.
Thank you,
Karlynn Baker, Gia Leone and Ryan Massey.
