Services for Ms. Mildred “Tootsie” Nelson Gordon were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bros. Rusty Walton and Joseph Knight officiated. Milling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Survivors include a son, Tracy Gordon of Union; two grandchildren: Prentiss Gordon and Ashlee Gordon both of Union; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Savell and Charlotte Gordon; a sister, Maxinee Bynum; a sister-in-law, Helen Collins of Pearl.
Ms. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; Millard and Lillie Nelson;one brother, Oree Nelson; and her husband; C. P. “Ceb” Gordon.
Mildred “Tootsie” Nelson Gordon was born in Neshoba County to Millard and Lille Nelson. Mrs. Gordon married her childhood sweetheart, Cebron “Ceb” Gordon, also of Neshoba County. They lived on Meridian and Hueytown, Ala. Mrs. Gordon was a school secretary in Hueytown for many years. Upon returning to live in Neshoba County, Mrs. Gordon served as a church secretary for Pine Grove Baptist Church for over 30 years. She also sang in choir and served as church pianist on occasion.
Mrs. Gordon loved travel with friends and relatives to gospel singings where she sang solos, with groups, and played the piano. She loved her family, her church and her music. Her music, her vocation and her life were testimonies to her Christian faith. She will be greatly missed by friends, family and church members.
