Ray Anthony Collins, 72, of Newton, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at his home in Newton. He was born Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1944, in Neshoba County.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 at Newton County Funeral Home – North. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton. Bro. Ryan Cozart officiated. Newton County Funeral Home – North was in charge of arrangements. (
Mr. Ray was a faithful and devoted engineer for KCS Railroad for over 40 years. Pop loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Mary and William Edgar Collins.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Cooksey Collins, of Newton; a daughter, Angela Craven (Chris), of Newton; a son, Tony Collins (Lynn), of Newton; a son, Terry Collins (Shannon), of Brandon; seven grandchildren, Amber Wall (Jake), Ryan Collins, Rayanne Spence (Tyler), Lee Catherine Collins , Niley Craven, Kaylee Jill Collins and Caleb Collins; two great-grandchildren, Rigdon Wall and Leighton Collins; and three brothers, Ronald Collins, Donald Collins and Johnny Collins.
Pallbearers were Chris Craven, Butch Meaders, Kent Mayes, Doug Mayes, William Emmons and Henry Gruno.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Anderson Cancer Center in Meridian.
