William Edgar Turman, 79, of Newton died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at his home in Newton. He was born Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1937, in Lambert.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Newton County Funeral Home-North in Newton with funeral service to follow. Burial was at Newton County Memorial Gardens. Bros. William Savell and Lewis May officiated. Newton County Funeral Home – South was in charge of arrangements.
William was a Methodist by faith and a faithful resident of Newton County for over 52 years. He was a loyal employee of J.B. Hunt trucking for many years. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends and all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Turman; his mother, Imogene Smith Turman; two brothers, Chester Turman and J.D. Turman; and a sister, Maxine Turman Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Laird Turman; a son, William Bryan Turman (Lee); a daughter, Gwendolyn Ann Turman; and a sister, Peggy Norman.
Pallbearers were Steve Freeman, Cody Steele, Kevin Laird, Scott Norman, Mike Norman and Mickey May.
