Mrs. Bonnie Jean Payton Moncrief was born December 9, 1952, in Jasper County, Mississippi to the late Letha Mae Clayton and the late Luther Payton.
Bonnie joined Mt. Calvary Mission Baptist Church at an early age. Bonnie later relocated to Dallas, Texas and became a member of Point of Light Church where she served as an usher and served in the daycare nursery. After several years, she relocated back to Mississippi and, after careful consideration, rejoined Mt. Calvary Mission Baptist Church in Lawrence, Mississippi, where she served faithfully until her death.
Bonnie departed this life on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Anderson Baptist Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Letha Mae Clayton and Luther Payton; one sister, Alma Curry; one brother, Lee Daniel Clayton and one brother-in-law, Robert Jones.
She leaves, to cherish her memories, ten children, Tresalane Wheaton, Catina (Dorian) Floyd, Shun, Steve & Brandy Moncrief, Joseph Johnson, Jessica (Andrew) Dukes, Sheena (Jeffery) Brown, Lecia (Lindsey) Moncrief and Jasmin Croft; four sisters, Glory Wheaton, Brenda Jones, Glenda Wheaton and Bertha Leonard; 32 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; a special friend, Andrea Croft.
The family of Bonnie Moncrief wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone for every act of kindness and sympathy shown during our hour of sorrow. Be assured whatever part you played will always be remembered. May God bless each of you.
