Funeral Services for Carrie “Camay” McDonald were held 2:00 p.m, February 28, 2025, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Hickory, MS with Pastor Josh Lyles officiating.
Carrie Mae “Camay” McDonald was born on May 27, 1935, to the late Beatrice (John Lee) Hughes Shoemaker and Talmadge Norman in Newton County, MS.
At an early age, she joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active and faithful member that served on multiple committees until her health declined at 85 years old. She was no stranger to hard work which resulted in her working in several different capacities.
Carrie enjoyed sewing, reading her Bible, spreading God’s word, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
Carrie departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center (formerly Anderson Regional Medical Center) in Meridian, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice (John Lee) Shoemaker and Talmadge Norman; as well as her siblings, Dorothy, Sonny, Hugh P., Robert and Ora Dee.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving children, Charles “Jr” Graham of Moreno Valley, CA, Jerry and Reginald Graham, both of Indianapolis, IN and Nelda McDonald of Newton, MS; four sisters, Cybil Jones of Jackson, MS, Patricia Jones and Ethel Ford of Hickory, MS and Joan Walker Nugent of Upland, CA; eight grandchildren, Kiwana “Vette”, Constance, Patrick, Brandon, Jessica, Monica and Sarah; four great-grandchildren, KeShaun, Jayden, Zachary and Erin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, and a special PCA, Carliss “Candi”, who took care of her full time during her health decline, until she transitioned.
