Dale Gressett Wood of Decatur, MS passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Dale was born to Charles Allen and Grace McKee Gressett March 16, 1942. Dale graduated from Decatur High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon graduations, Dale moved to New York to live out her dream of modeling and being an airline stewardess for American Airlines. That job afforded her many opportunities to travel the world and meet many famous people.
Dale was married to the love of her life, Keith Wood for 51 years. They built their family home in Decatur, MS, and she worked for ESCO in Newton, MS for 33 years. Dale was an active member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Sunshine Circle and the Ladies Sunday School Class. She was known for her knowledge of the Bible and she cherished her church family. Dale was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and an avid baseball fan. Dale enjoyed tracing her genealogy and meticulously caring for her yard and flowers. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend.
Visitation was held Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home – North with services immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial was held in Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Justin Chaney officiated. Newton County Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Keith Wood; her parents, Charles and Grace Gressett; her sister, Zara McKee McMullen and one great-grandchild, Robert Hayes Lurk.
She is survived by her children, Greg Wood (Bethany) and Christina Andrews (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Karley Lurk (Jacob), Anna Andrews, Tyson Wood, Gracey Wood, and Westen Wood; two great-grandchildren, Greyson Lurk and Calli Hayes Lurk; and one brother, Charley Gressett (Valerie).
