Services for Mr. Edgar Hillman were held 4:30 P.M, Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Reid Chapel Church of God (2417 Hwy. 492, Conehatta, MS, United States, Mississippi 39057) with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dewayne Dickerson and Rev. Robert Roncoli officiated.
Visitation were held 3- 4:30 P.M., prior to service, Sunday at the church.
Edgar Lavelle Hillman, Sr., age 86 of Conehatta, was born on February 18, 1938 in Conehatta, MS. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye Hillman; parents, Erbie and Verna Hillman; one brother, Junious Hillman; sisters, Rachel Duran, Hazel McLemore, Winnie Stevenson and Frances Cox.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Ruth Hillman; sons, Lavelle Hillman and Marty Hillman (Wendy); one daughter, Miranda Hillman (Marty Williamson); grandsons, Mark Hillman (Morgan), Billy Ray Kennedy; one granddaughter, Anna Claire Upton; one sister, Wilma Fitch (Sammy) and stepchildren, Pam Hillman (Iran) and Allen Tune.
He is also survived by beloved nieces and nephews and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He dreamed as a young man of marrying a nice girl, having children and buying a farm with acreage. He especially enjoyed working at La-Z-Boy, building chairs for 14 years and 2 months. After two decades of working in factories, he built a broiler farm and had some cattle. He farmed for approximately 30 years.
Growing up with six siblings, he pedaled syrup along with other produce with his father and brother to support the family. He continued to pedal syrup routes in the state.
He provided for his family well and loved beyond measure. He leaves a Godly heritage and served the Lord faithfully. After receiving the Holy Ghost at North Bend in 1967, he made a lifelong commitment to serve the Lord with all his heart and might.
He was a worker for every church he attended. He sold peanut brittle or participated in any fundraiser for church operations.
He enjoyed helping his wife with her Stanley Home Products parties and sales. He loved to escort her on all the trips for meetings and conventions.
He worked hard to take his family on vacations frequently.
After marrying Ruth 17 years ago they thoroughly enjoyed traveling on cruises and going to the mountains with other destinations and especially loved to travel together for months at a time with their camper at Mountain View, Arkansas.
Mr. Hillman had an avid love for Donald Trump and was one of his biggest fans.
For the last year, he enjoyed taking road trips to see his beloved sister, Wilma and her husband Sammy of Gulfport. He thoroughly enjoyed his son preparing his coffee and breakfast every morning.
