Gwendolyn (Gwen) Van Sciver, age 75, and a resident of Decatur, and formerly of Biloxi, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at her residence.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with funeral services immediately following the visitation. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.
Ms. Van Sciver worked for Magnolia Federal Bank as a teller and later on at Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center in patient registration. She also worked at the annual Ron Myers Christmas City for 39 years, and anticipated completing the 40th year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nancy Caldwell McGee; her paternal grandparents, Sylvester and Lillie Mae McGee and her maternal grandparents, Joe and Cittie Caldwell.
Survivors include her aunts, Marie McGee of Newton and Irene Yoder of Dallas, TX; several cousins and special friends, Sally Manseill of Biloxi, and Skeeter Clark of Westcliff, CO.
All floral deliveries may be delivered to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 2548 Cedar Grove Rd., Newton, MS 39345.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gertrude C. Ford Hope Lodge, 2615 N. State St., Jackson, MS 39216.
