Funeral services for Janice Elaine Fisher were held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South Chapel. Burial followed in Chunky Cemetery.
Bro. Jamie Leach, Bro. Lewis May, and Bro. Bo Buckley officiated.
Mrs. Fisher, age 75, and a resident of Chunky, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was born Friday, July 29, 1949, grew up in Meridian and was a graduate of Meridian High School. She was a graduate of Meridian Junior College School of Nursing, and served thirty years as a registered nurse at Anderson's Hospital. Mrs. Janice was a Christian, the matriarch of the family, loving wife and mother, amazing Nanny, a special sister, and a wonderful mother-in-law. She will be remembered for her big beautiful smile, witty sense of humor, a lover of animals, and connoisseur of ice cream. To know her was to love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.B. and Jean Culpepper Thompson; one sister, Joyce Rogers and one granddaughter, Allyson Gressett.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Fisher of Chunky; two sons, Steve Gressett (Wendy) of Hickory and Gary Fisher, Jr. of Orlando, FL; one daughter, Kim Brackeen (Mike) of Hickory; nine grandchildren, Cody Bryant (Kellye), Katie Buckley (Bo), Ashley McCormick (Seth), Arin Brackeen, Cody Gressett (Catherine), Dylan Neal, Daniel Bryant, Chandler Thomas and Landin Brackeen; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gail Henson of Meridian and Betty Clark (Johnny) of Chunky; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Arin Brackeen, Landin Brackeen, Cody Gressett, Alex Buckley, Dylan Neal, and Daniel Bryant.
Honorary pallbearer was Chandler Thomas.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South, and also on Tuesday, from 12 noon until 1:45 pm prior to the services at the funeral home.
Newton County Funeral Home - South, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
