Funeral Services for Jetavion Markenyus Johnson were held, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Altare Missionary Baptist Church.
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passion of Jetavion Markenyus Johnson, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, who departed this life at the young age of 18. Born on November 1, 2006, in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, Jetavion was a bright and spirited young man whose life touched many and whose potential was limitless.
Jetavion was the cherished son of Brittany Johnson and Brandon Burkes. He was raised in Newton, where he made lasting memories with his family and friends. Though he faced life’s challenges, he approached each day with resilience and hope. At a young age, he was passionate about sports, excelling in basketball and football, and proudly representing Newton City during his youth.
He was. a young man with big dreams. Although he did not graduate from high school, he was actively working towards earning his GED, demonstrating his determination to build a better future. His next goal was to attend trucking school to obtain his CDL, a step he was enthusiastically pursuing. At the time of his passing, he was in the process of securing a new job at a warehouse, eager to advance his carer and provide for himself.
Jetavion was a hardworking and dedicated individual who, despite his job at KFC, longed for better opportunities. He expressed his commitment to staying at his current job until his new position was secured, showing his perseverance and dedication.
Beyond his ambitions, Jetavion was known for his warm smile and caring nature. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, and enjoying life. His love for sports reflected his energetic spirit.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. His maternal family includes is mother, Brittany Johnson; siblings, Jemiryah Elizabeth Broadus, King Joseph Johnson and Brenden Damu Roberts; his grandmother, Elizabeth Johnson; along with his grandfather, Joseph Johnson, his aunt, Faymicka McCallum and her daughter, Rickyra Mann. On his paternal side, he is survived by his father, Brandon Burkes; his aunts, Bridget Estelle and Annie Burkes; his uncle, Javion Burkes; his grandmother, Judy Ann Kincaid; and a host of cousins - too many to name- on both sides of the family.
He was a young man full of potential, love and promise. His life, though brief, made an impact on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever loved.
