Maxine Hoffa Roachell of Newton, Mississippi passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on October 23, 2025, surrounded by her four children. She was born May 2,1940 in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
Maxine had a sharp wit, a stubborn streak, and a heart bigger than she ever let on. She could fuss with you one minute and feed you the next — and somehow, you always left her presence feeling loved.
She didn’t do anything halfway, whether it was cooking, delivering meals, or helping with the cows, she would jump right in and help in a heartbeat. Maxine had an unmistakable spark that made her impossible to forget and even harder not to love. Undoubtedly there is a long list of folks who’ll be telling “remember when she said…” stories for the rest of their lives!
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Kathi (Thom) Peterson of Raymore, MO; daughter, Becca (Mike) Goulet of San Diego, CA; son, Walter (Valerie) Roachell of Boerne, TX; and son, Jonathan (Jennifer) Roachell of Elk Grove, CA; and thirteen grandchildren, Caleb, Jonathan, Adam, Jacob, Paige, Nathan, Sarah, Seth, Ellie, Hallie, Daxton, Andrew and Daniel as well as nine great-grand children, Mailee, Asher, Jonah, Rylee, Jed, Mabel, Karsyn, Josiah and Benjamin.
There are no words to express how grateful and blessed we, her children, are that she had so many close family and friends by her side through these last couple of months. You loved her well in word and deed. We were touched by each one of you for your kindness to our mom and to us.
There will be no service per Maxine’s request.
