Odell E. Reeves, 92 of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home.
Private family services were held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Newton County Funeral Home-North. Burial took place at Newton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Mark Vincent officiated. Newton County Funeral Home-North was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Odell was a lifelong resident of Newton County and was a faithful member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church, and the Caleb Sunday School Class. She was a certified dietary manager, retiring from Aldersgate Retirement Community after many years of service, and also worked at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home, in her early years. She will be remembered for her cooking skills, and her love for flowers. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Reeves; parents, Perry C. and Jenny Matt Parnell Everett; sisters, Helen Coker and Sarah Hill; brothers, Perry C. Everett Jr., and her twin brother, Wardell Everett.
Survivors include her two sons, Tommy Reeves and David Reeves (Trish); three daughters, Cathy McDill (Layne), Patty Gibson (Scotty), and Buffy Hale (Scott); eight grandchildren, Ashley Young (Brad), Kery Kenna (Drew), Leigh Anna Brown (Toby), Taylor Reeves (Alli), Will Gibson (Kelsey), Lexie Gibson, Macy Hale and Grey Hale and twelve great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Taylor Reeves, Will Gibson, Grey Hale, Brad Young, Drew Kenna, Layne McDill, Scotty Gibson, and Scott Hale.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Clarke-Venable Baptist Church.
The Reeves family wishes to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the administrators, directors, and staff of Bee Hives Homes of Newton, J.G. Alexander Nursing Home, and Quality Hospice of Philadelphia for their compassionate and professional care of their loved one.
