Services for Mr. Otha Dewitt Kennedy were held at 2:30 p.m., June 06, 2025 at Milling Home of Union with burial in Union City Cemetery. Bro. Thomas Fortenberry officiated.
Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. prior to services at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Mr. Kennedy, age 86, of Union passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
Mr. Otha was from Bay St. Louis Ms. He graduated from Bay St. Louis High School with many accolades.
He showed his athletic talent in all sports and was All state in basketball. He received a scholarship to his beloved Mississippi State University.
Otha served in the US Air Force spending four years in Germany before returning to finish his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Miss and a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Alabama. His working career was always in service to others.
He loved his family, his Lord and Savior. He taught Sunday School and served as a deacon at New Ireland Baptist Church.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nelda Henry Kennedy; 6 grandchildren, Loren Robinson (Jordan), Brandon Kennedy (Emile), Kristen Robbins (Austin), Ryan, Patrick and Phillip Kennedy; two sisters, Patricia Farve and Glenda Kozak (Ron) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Elsie Breland Kennedy; two sons, Thomas Otha Kennedy and Eric Dewitt Kennedy; one brother, Derrell Kennedy; five sisters, Arlie Klien, Olga Gilpin, Joan Tully, Faye Herring and Adeline Morel and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Bursen, Ryan Kennedy, Mitch Kennedy, Brandon Kennedy, Gary Stout and Jordan Robinson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of New Ireland Baptist Church.
Milling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
