Graveside services for Patsy Carey Bristow were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Newton County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Justin Chaney officiated.
Mrs. Bristow, age 81 and resident of Decatur, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home at Union. Mrs. Patsy will be remembered for her love for the Lord, and as the family prayer warrior. She was a former longtime Sunday School teacher and VBS worker, at Midway Baptist Church, where she held membership. Growing up on a farm, impacted her life, from animals to flower gardens, as she took great pride in keeping an immaculate yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.D. Bristow; her parents, Charlie and Gladys Roberson Shaw; six brothers, James Shaw, Walter Shaw, Charles Shaw, Robert Shaw, Henry Shaw and Eddie Shaw and two sisters, Rebecca Anderson and Ruth Mills.
Survivors include Wayne Carey, father of two sons, Lee Carey (Sherrie) and Bobby Carey (Joy) and one daughter, Lynne Carey, all of Decatur; five grandchildren, Robby Carey (Bianca), Amy Salazar (Timothy), Mandy Goforth (Richard), Jennifer Tune (Jason) and Cody Carey (Alex); fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Nora Howton of Oregon; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Richard Goforth, Zack Goforth, Jason Tune, Joshua Fletcher, Robby Carey, and Cody Carey.
Visitation was one hour prior to the graveside service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Newton County Funeral Home – Nort, 9998 Hwy. 15 N, Newton, served the Bristow family.
