Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Maske, aged 89 of Newton, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:00 am at Newton County Funeral Home - South. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bro. Jackie Strebeck and Bro. Steve Robinson officiated.
Mrs. Maske was a lifelong resident of Newton County where she served the medical profession for over 50 years as a nurse, working in local hospitals and clinics with dedicated physicians in Newton and Lauderdale counties. She will be remembered for her great compassion and care she provided all patients at home and at work, including her witness for the Lord.
She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and used her musical and vocal talents for the service of the Lord in local churches, namely Lawrence Baptist, Cedar Grove Baptist and most recently, Pine Bluff Baptist, where she recently retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gordon Maske; one grandson, Steven Tyler Maske; her parents, James Rankin and Emmie Lee Williams Willis; five brothers, Clinton Willis, John Willis, Donny Willis, Larry Willis and Hansel Willis; two sisters, Mary Joyce Willis and Linda Dennis.
Survivors include her two sons, Steve Maske (Linda) and James G. "Bo" Maske, both of Newton; one grandson, Cody Maske (Jordan) of Newton; one sister, Shirley Hurt of Meridian; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Armand Therrian, Harold Shelby, Ricky Maske, Mark Willis, Dennis Gordy, Jason Williams, and Greg Willis.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Maske, Bob Williams, Chris Shimfessel, Ronny Nicholson, and Larry Jenkins.
Special music was provided by Mrs. Jordan Maske and Mr. William Savell.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South.
Newton County Funeral Home - South, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton, was in charge of arrangements.
