It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Tullos, loving father and grandfather, on August 4, 2025, at the age of 77 at home surrounded by family.
Service for Mr. Terry Tullos was held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union. Bro. Eddie Pilgrim, Bro. Donnie Powell and Bro. William Savell officiated the service.
Visitation was held from 11:30-1:00 P.M. prior to the chapel service.
A graveside service was held at Pinckney Baptist Church of Union, MS immediately following the chapel service.
Pallbearers were Randy Harvey, Fred Carter, Mike Massey, Homer Gross, Mickey McMahan, Brandon Griffin and Perry Luke.
Terry was born in Union, MS to Zane and Johnnie Juanice (Burton) Tullos along with his younger siblings, Bobby, Jimmy, Billy and Jean.
He attended elementary school in Union, MS and loved sharing stories about all of his old classmates. He graduated from high school in Denham Springs, LA and attended East Central Junior College in Decatur, MS.
Terry loved his country and served in the United States Navy from 1966-1970, of which one year (May 1969-May 1970) was spent in Vietnam with MACV (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam).
In 1967 he met the love of his life, Rita Jane Leach, in Union, MS and was married on March 2, 1969. They spent 56 years together.
Terry and Rita lived and raised their family in Vicksburg, MS. Terry was a retired Civil Engineering Technician/Contract Specialist of 35 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District.
Terry was an active member of the following organizations: Pinckney Masonic Lodge #313 of Union, MS; The Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi; The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Meridian, Orient of MS; The Hamasa Shrine of Meridian, MS; The Woodman Life Chapter of Union, MS and The National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARF).
He was a member of Pinckney Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and taught the adult men’s Sunday school class as well as served in other various capacities as needed.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Rita; children, Adam (Erin)Tullos of Tupelo, MS, Tracy (Kimberly) Tullos of Vicksburg, MS and Trisha (Ray) Nelligan of Jacksonville Beach, FL. He was also the proud grandfather of Kiersten, Landry and Karrington Tullos of Tupelo, MS, Macy and Lana Nelligan of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Kylee Tullos and Bradley Hill of Vicksburg, MS. He is also survived by his brothers, Bobby (Paula), Jimmy (Patricia) and Billy Tullos of Denham Springs, LA; sister, Jean Tullos of Union, MS; step mother, Dean Tullos; 2 stepbrothers; sisters in law, Betty Culpepper and Ina Faye Nelson; brother in law, Douglas Leach and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were very important to him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Zane Tullos and Juanice Tullos Cleveland; nephew, Jason Tullos; sister-in-law, Alice Tullos; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Alice Leach; and brothers in law, Tommy Leach and Sammy Culpepper.
Terry was an avid LSU Tiger fan and was often seen dressed head to toe in purple and gold. He loved hunting, fishing, being with family and spending time on his front porch with Matt the Cat while reading his Bible which he read from cover-to-cover numerous times throughout his life.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangments.
