Funeral services for Wanda Lee Campbell were held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North. Bro. Jackie Strebeck and Bro. Justin Chaney officiated. Burial followed in Newton County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.
Mrs. Campbell was born Saturday, October 19, 1935 in Itawamba County, and raised in North Mississippi. She attended school in Itawamba County, and moved to this area over sixty years ago. She was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress at the Decatur Shirt Factory. Favorite things that she enjoyed doing were cooking and keeping up with her grandkids. She will missed by those who knew and loved her. She passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her residence at the age of 88.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Alexander; her parents, Jesse and Annie Ethel Grammar Newell; seven brothers, Evone Newell, Lavane Newell, Eugene Newell, Malone Newell, O.T. Newell, Ottis Newell and Elvis Newell and one sister, Mavis Goddard.
Survivors include her husband of almost 59 years, Gaylon Campbell of Decatur; one son, David Campbell (Susan) of Hattiesburg; one son-in-law, Michael Alexander of Rose Hill; four grandchildren, Jordan Wigington, Ethan Alexander, Colin Campbell and Kyle Alexander; two brothers, James L. Newell of Fulton, Elton Newell of Boaz, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ethan Alexander, Jordan Wigington, Aaron Brown, Michael Alexander, Camp Keith, and Darrell Newell.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Keith, Mike Brown, Kyle Alexander, and Colin Campbell.
Visitation was on Thursday, March 21, 2024 two hours prior to the services.
Newton County Funeral Home - North, 9998 Hwy. 15 North, Newton, 39345, was in charge of arrangements.
