Funeral services for Mr. William Huey were held at 12:00 noon Friday November 14, 2025 at Beulah Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Rivers and Bro. Byron Howell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the service from 10:30a.m.-12:00 noon.
William A. Huey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 10, 2025 at the age of 93. Born on September 1, 1932, he was blessed to have many roles as a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He lived a long and full life devoted to faith, family, and hard work.
He served 23 years in the United States Army and spent time at Ft. Hood TX, Ft. Sill OK, and two tours in Germany, Turkey and Vietnam. For his service in Vietnam he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. He also received numerous achievement awards recognized by U.S. Army senior leadership throughout his career.
After his military service he worked for the USPS at Newton for 21 years then retired and started a new hobby in woodworking. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was locally known for his undefeated streak in checkers (especially against his brothers).
Mr. William was a very community minded man, serving others always. However, he kept faith and family first. He was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church having served as Deacon for 41 years, Trustee and on the Cemetery Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Willie Mae Huey; wife, Nancy Ella Huey; brothers, Larry Huey and Max Huey; grandchildren, Crystal and C.J. Harrison; and stepdaughter, Donna Addy.
He is survived by wife, Everlena Huey; son, David Huey (Diane); daughter, Janean Harrison (Ricky); granddaughter, Haley Purvis (Matt); grandson, Eli Harrison (Abby); and great-grandchildren, Penelope and Pippa Purvis; brothers, Randall Huey (Marjorie) and Clint Huey (Dale).
He is also survived by stepdaughter, Sharon Savell (Bryan); stepson, Mike Brown; stepson-in-law, Jim Addy; grandchildren, Curtis Addy, Adam Savell (Shelby), Lindsey Savell, Andrew Brown; great- grandchildren, Brantley, Bryson, and Tritt Savell.
Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and three very special sister-in-laws, Kathleen Huey, Carolyn Huey and Glenna Thaggard.
Pallbearers were Eli Harrison, Matthew Purvis, Curtis Addy, Adam Savell, Andrew Brown and Gary Pinson.
Honorable Pallbearers are the Deacons of Beulah Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund 12954 Hickory Little Rock Rd, Decatur, MS. 39327.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of arrangements.
