Dear Editor,
I grew up in the Sebastopol community but have lived in the Chicago area for nearly 57 years. I have been a subscriber of The Newton County Appeal (f/k/a/ The Union Appeal) for about 25 - 30 years. My one and only reason for continuing my subscription is to keep up with things that are going on in the area where I grew up. I have tried to read the Chunky column ever since Mr. Campbell started writing it several years ago but, quite frankly, I've finished only four or five because it soon becomes obvious that the column is primarily about Mr. Campbell, his family and close circle of friends.
I realize Chunky is a small town, but I know there are things that go on there that would be interesting to read about if someone would make the effort to collect the information and roll it into a column. There are schools, churches and other organizations that generate news that would be interesting to read. I don't know what the population of Chunky is, but I have three generations of cousins that all live on Church Street in the town.
Perhaps Mr. Campbell is writing the kind of column that you and the majority of your readers prefer, but as for this subscriber, it is not the kind of column that I enjoy reading.
If the Chunky column could be more of a new column than a family activities one, I would be greatly appreciative.

Editor’s response:
Dear Readers,
We appreciate it when you send us a letter about how we can do things to improve our product. The community columns are a vital part of our newspaper. However, they can only be successful if they receive your community news, birthdays, etc. So I would ask you to please submit your news items to our community columnists. If you cannot give them a call directly, please email me at bmaze@newtoncountyappeal.com or email Demetrius Thompson at dthompson@newtoncountyappeal.com. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
